They are bewildered by the thousands of companies listed in the stock markets, rattled by the fluctuations in their prices, overwhelmed by the presence of institutional investors, cofounded by exotic instruments like derivatives and complicated investment strategies, confused by the intricacies of the legal system and exasperated by the financial scams that periodically rock the stock markets.
